Veterinary Student Externships
If you’d like to advance your training, AVSG Internal Medicine & Emergency/Critical Care is a teaching facility that offers veterinary student externships. We routinely offer externships in the specialties of surgery, internal medicine, and emergency medicine, and special arrangements can be made to provide cardiology and dermatology exposure.
Veterinary student externships are generally two- to four-week terms designed to give students additional hands-on experiences outside the university setting. These opportunities enable you to explore a new specialty, increase your experience within a specialty, or compare learning environments in different practice settings. Externships also allow you to evaluate a practice for possible training or employment in the future by providing a first-hand look at the culture and structure prior to joining full-time.
